May half term is almost here, and if you're searching for events in Blackpool for kids that go beyond the usual, you're in the right place. Jungle World Blackpool has put together one of its biggest months yet, and the headline event the Blue Paws Jungle Bash is already selling out fast. Here's everything you need to know so your family doesn't miss out.
Blackpool draws millions of visitors each year, and families make up a huge share of them. The town offers plenty of outdoor attractions, but when the British weather does what it always does, an indoor venue with a packed activity schedule becomes worth its weight in gold.
That's where Jungle World Blackpool steps in. Located at Unit N10A, Hounds Hill Shopping Centre, Victoria Street, Blackpool FY1 4HU, it operates as the town's go-to indoor soft play centre for children aged 0 to 12. Across May, the team has lined up a calendar of themed sessions, creative workshops, and one very special weekend event.
Let's break it down.
The Blue Paws Jungle Bash runs across two days:
The Blue Pup is visiting the jungle for a weekend packed with activities, creativity, and memories. Here's what's included in your entry ticket:
All activities come with your standard entry ticket. There are no hidden charges on the day just two full days of fun from the moment you walk in.
Spaces are limited. Jungle World Blackpool sessions regularly sell out, so early booking is the only way to guarantee a spot.
The Blue Paws Jungle Bash brings something extra to an already exciting venue. The meet and greet with The Blue Pup gives younger children a character experience without the queues and costs of a theme park. Add a disco, crafts, and the full soft play centre to the mix and you have a complete day out in one building.
Parents get to sit back at the Tiki Café, which holds a five-star hygiene rating and serves freshly prepared food including pizzas, paninis, jacket potatoes, and decent coffee. You can watch the play area from your seat, which makes the whole experience genuinely relaxed for adults too.
The Blue Paws Jungle Bash is the weekend highlight, but May is busy across the board. Here is every themed session running throughout the month:
Monday 11th May — Leafy Designs Children paint real leaves and press them onto paper to create leaf-print artwork. A hands-on sensory session with free play included.
Tuesday 12th May — Create Your Own Ice Cream Little chefs build their own ice cream cone loaded with sprinkles and flakes. A creative, food-based session with free play included.
Wednesday 13th May — Frosting Play Dough Children mould and shape frosting play dough made from powdered sugar and food colouring. Edible, creative, and sensory — free play included.
Thursday 14th May — Decorate Your Own Waffles Kids load up waffles with maple syrup, chocolate, bananas, and strawberries. A tasty, hands-on session with free play included.
Monday 18th May — Drop Splat! Children dip cotton balls in paint and drop them from a height, creating splatter art while exploring the basics of gravity. Messy and free play included.
Tuesday 19th May — Apple Monster Making Using apple slices, mini marshmallows, and edible eyes, kids build their own edible monsters. A fun and entirely edible session with free play included.
Wednesday 20th May — Straw Splatter Children dip straws into paint and blow to create colour-burst patterns on paper. A brilliantly messy activity with free play included.
Thursday 21st May — Penguin Making Kids use giant marshmallows, chocolate, Smarties, and edible eyes to build chocolate penguins. A sweet, hands-on session with free play included.
Blue Paws Jungle Bash — Full details above. Arts and crafts, disco, games, and Blue Pup meet and greet. All included in the entry ticket.

If you haven't visited before, here's a quick picture of the venue.
The play centre features:
The venue holds a four-star-plus Google rating. Staff are posted throughout the play area at all times, and sessions are capped at limited numbers to prevent overcrowding. The controlled entry system means your child always has space to play.
The Tiki Café sits adjacent to the play area. Parents can watch the kids from their table while eating. The menu includes build-your-own pizzas, paninis, jacket potatoes, healthy options, kids' meals, and hot drinks. Outside food is not permitted, except baby food and formula.
Booking is straightforward through the Jungle World Blackpool website.
Opening hours in May (school holidays):
The team recommends booking well in advance. Around 90% of weekend sessions sell out. Once a session is full, walk-ins are turned away at the door.
Tickets are non-refundable after purchase, but the team may be able to move your booking to another session with sufficient notice. Contact them at hello@jungleworldblackpool.com or call 01253 928674.
Paid parking is available at Hounds Hill Shopping Centre.
Here are a few things to sort before you arrive:
May at Jungle World Blackpool gives families more than a dozen different sessions, two themed event weekends, and the ongoing Jungle Monsters programme for the youngest visitors. The Blue Paws Jungle Bash on 23rd and 24th May is the clear headline a meet and greet, disco, arts and crafts, and games, all rolled into one entry ticket. But even if you can't make that weekend, the daily creative sessions and the Bank Holiday Disney Party give you plenty of other options.
If you're looking for events in Blackpool for kids this May that are indoor, well-organised, and worth the trip, Jungle World Blackpool has put together a strong month. Book your sessions at their website before they sell out.
Is the Blue Paws Jungle Bash suitable for toddlers? Yes. Jungle World Blackpool caters for children aged 0 to 12, and the Blue Paws Jungle Bash is designed with younger children in mind. The venue has a dedicated toddler zone separate from the main play area, so little ones play safely at their own level. All activities during the event are included in your standard entry ticket.
Do I need to book a separate ticket for the Blue Paws Jungle Bash activities? No. The arts and crafts, disco, games, and Blue Pup meet and greet are all included in your entry ticket for the Blue Paws Jungle Bash weekend on 23rd and 24th May. There are no additional charges on the day, making it one of the better-value family events in Blackpool this month.
How early should I book for May events at Jungle World Blackpool?
As early as possible. The venue states that around 90% of weekend sessions sell out. The Blue Paws Jungle Bash and the Bank Holiday Disney Party sessions in particular are likely to go quickly. Booking a week or more in advance is sensible for any May session, and even further ahead for the big event weekends.
What happens if it rains on the day of our visit?
Jungle World Blackpool is entirely indoors, so the weather makes no difference at all. This is one reason it works so well as a family day out in Blackpool you are not at the mercy of the forecast. The full play centre, café, and all activities run regardless of what's happening outside.
Can grandparents attend with the children?
Yes. Every adult who enters the venue needs a ticket, which helps the team manage capacity and keep the space comfortable. Every child must also be accompanied by at least one supervising adult. There are no age restrictions on adult visitors, so grandparents are very welcome to come along and watch from the café or the seating areas around the play frames.
